The Lord himself will fight for you

But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground. – Exodus 14:13-16 NLT

Moses - Red Sea

When I woke up this morning I most definitely did not feel like getting out of bed. There have been numerous things in my personal life that have just taken their toll on me recently, then to top it off a huge project at work was given to me, and it was due by this Friday. When I say huge I mean huge, I won’t go into many more details, but there were about 20 people working under me to get this project delivered by Friday.

I was struggling particularly this morning to get up and face the day, I snoozed my alarm as long as I could. I only slept about 2 hours last night, and when I left the office yesterday we were no where close to being finished with the project at work. I just didn’t have the strength to go in today and face what was awaiting me, it was just too big for me, and I was utterly exhausted.

I remembered that I had a word that the Lord had spoken to me during one of the hardest and most tragic events in my life, and I was so helped by it that I printed it out and hung it on my wall. Every morning when I woke up I would have to read it and know that the Lord would take me through the day… Well today the Lord used it again to speak to me.

Just as I am laying in bed wondering if I could go on today I looked over and read it, here is a picture that I just took of the print out:

Can you walk with me

There are times in my life when I have woken up early, trusting the Lord, rising in victory… but this was not one of them :-). However, today was an example of how the life of Christ in me showed itself mightier than what opposed me (or “the Egyptians”), and to quote Paul “when I am weak, then I am strong”. The Lord just spoke to my heart when I read that, and He gave me a strength and energy for the day that was not of myself.

I then posted on my Facebook status what I felt the Lord speak to me, and what I do believe He lead me to share with others:

I hear the Lord speaking to me this morning… “Don’t be afraid, stay calm, stand still and watch Me rescue you. I Myself will fight for you. Just take up your cross (or ‘pick up your staff’), and raise it over that place which would otherwise overcome you. I will divide the obstacle so completely not a drop of it will touch you.” I thank Him for the encouragement this morning. Have a blessed day!

Long story short when I left the office yesterday my boss asked me if I thought we would be done by Friday, and my response was “man I don’t know, it depends on how tomorrow goes”. He was out of the office all day today until around 3 or 4 PM, but when he got in he asked me how things were going. By the grace of the Lord I was able to say “we are 90-95% complete, and will be done by the end of the day… so we will be able to turn this over 2 days early“. He had a look of shock, which was to be expected. Initially I had been dreading how many late nights I would have to work this week to complete this, yet the Lord divided the obstacle so completely that not a drop of it touched me”.

I cannot tell you how many times the Lord has done things like this in my life, and this is a big reason I started this blog. I feel like I  just want to shout from the mountain tops the goodness of the Lord. Take courage brothers and sisters, when you are at the end of your strength and you feel like your life is coming apart at the seams “Just stay calm. The Lord himself will fight for you. Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.”

Praise His name, He truly is King of kings and His Name is above all names… Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God will fight for you Himself. If you can walk with Him just one more day, if you can trust Him, He will carry you!

Much Love,

Keith
